On July 10, 2024, FBA EDNY hosted its annual “A Day at Federal Court.” The event was attended by over fifty interns from across Long Island. Participants were able to observe civil, criminal, and bankruptcy proceedings. Participants also attended a presentation with the clerk’s office and lunch with numerous members of the judiciary. The event was cosponsored by the Federal Litigation Section.
Every July, U.S. Second Circuit Judge Joseph F. Bianco hosts his annual Justice Institute in New York. At these interactive immersion programs, students observe and participate in the judicial process and gain legal and life skills from judges, lawyers, federal law enforcement agents and many other professionals who help the wheels of justice turn. Court camps benefit from partnerships in the legal community that bring together the courts, local bar associations, law schools, and law firms.
Each year, FBA EDNY Chapter participates in Capitol Hill Day, an event with members from different chapters and politicians in attendance. Participants have the opportunity to serve as representatives for the FBA in communication with Congress to discuss legislation, political issues, federal court funding and other issues that impact the administration of justice and the federal courts.
